New York Jets Lineman Xavier Newman Hospitalized After Neck Injury During Game Against Steelers

New York Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman suffered a serious neck injury during Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was carted off the field. The incident occurred in the third quarter after Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was intercepted by Beanie Bishop Jr. of the Steelers, who returned the ball 41 yards. Newman was injured during the play when he was blocked and fell awkwardly, remaining down on the field for several minutes.

Jets teammates surrounded Newman as medical staff attended to him. According to the Sunday Night Football broadcast, Newman was conscious and had movement in his limbs as he was placed on a spine board and carted off the field. He was then transported to a Pittsburgh hospital for further evaluation. The team later confirmed that Newman would miss the remainder of the game due to his neck injury.
