Giants’ Malik Nabers and Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Suffer Injuries in Thursday Night Showdown By Tom Canavan

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — In a tense Thursday night matchup, two of the NFL’s promising young stars faced injuries, as New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers suffered a concussion and Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons sustained an ankle injury.

“It was a banger today,” Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs commented after Dallas secured a 20-15 victory. “A lot of guys got banged up. It shows the fight and the resilience we have.”

Nabers, the sixth overall pick in the recent NFL Draft, was injured with 3:30 left in the game while trying to catch a fourth-down pass from quarterback Daniel Jones near the sideline. He fell hard after attempting to tiptoe the boundary and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Despite the injury, Nabers had an impressive performance with 12 receptions for 115 yards, marking his second consecutive game with over 10 catches and 100 yards.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll had not yet received updates on Nabers’ condition during his post-game press conference, as he had not seen the player since the injury occurred.

Meanwhile, Parsons was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after initially returning from an earlier ankle injury. He recorded two tackles, including one for a loss, but has now gone three games without a sack. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy had no immediate updates on Parsons’ condition after the game.

Parsons expressed his concern as he hobbled around the locker room, stating, “We won’t know more until tomorrow,” and mentioned plans for an X-ray on Friday. He explained that the injury occurred when another player fell on him while he was planting his leg, but he remained optimistic about the victory.

“I’m glad we’re finally back in the win column, but we still have a lot of work to do,” Parsons said. “We can be a lot better. I’m not going to stop until we’re damn near perfect.”

As a two-time All-Pro, Parsons has consistently excelled, recording at least 13 sacks in each of his first three seasons. However, he currently has only one sack through four games this year

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott praised Parsons, saying, “He’s a hell of a player, a big-time playmaker. He made a huge run stop on one of those last possessions. Honestly, I’m just hoping it’s not anything serious.”

With Nabers and Parsons both nursing injuries, fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on their conditions as the season progresses.
