Alabama High School Football Player Tragically Dies Following Game Injury

A tragic incident occurred at Morgan Academy in Selma, Alabama, where 16-year-old junior quarterback Caden Tellier passed away on Saturday, following a critical injury sustained during a football game. Tellier was hurt after a tackle in the third quarter of the game against Southern Academy on Friday night.

Headmaster Bryan Oliver informed Al.com that Tellier suffered a severe brain injury and was immediately airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital on Friday night. Despite medical efforts, Tellier succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The Tellier family shared the heartbreaking news of his passing on social media, stating, “Our boy, Caden Tellier, has met Jesus face to face. We appreciate all of your prayers, and we covet them for the hard days ahead. Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity, and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time. Lives have been touched by the way he lived, and now lives will be saved through his passing.”

In a statement on the school’s Facebook page, Headmaster Oliver expressed the profound sorrow felt by the Morgan Academy community: “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family. Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy.”

It was confirmed that Caden Tellier was an organ donor, continuing his legacy of generosity even after his passing.

In light of the tragedy, Morgan Academy has canceled all sports activities for the upcoming week, including the scheduled football game at Wilcox Academy this Friday.
